I can fully respect the position of not always taking fan ideas. One of the biggest things about your songs is that, even though they have different lyrics than their original counterparts (one head light, 1985, etc), they all have the same feeling and structure of the originals (1985/AGShrine talk about a specific person and their life trials/loss of entertainment, Pina Colada/Viva Pinnate are a person posting in a personals/online forum, etc).

Many times fans can come up with a good idea, but the process of making that idea into a song that respects the form of the original song may not always work out.

Ideas are a dime a dozen, but epiphanies are one of a kind

Legally, as parody, we are *probably* protected and would not need anybody's permission. Also, by not charging for the music, we are less of a financial threat; it's not like people would think we WERE the Beatles.

But just in case -- and to follow Weird Al's lead -- we pay for a license for every song we record, as if we were doing a straight cover version. I have a file at home with licenses from The Harry Fox Agency just in case anybody ever asked if we'd obtained the right paperwork.

Anyway, we debuted “Wii Christmastime” on episode 29, and the whole TalkRadar crew has been very supportive of us, playing our songs and giving us exposure to all their perverted little fans. And we really, really appreciate that.
